Detached bungalow, Clydebank Glasgow

Page under construction

Property: 1930′s extended bungalow

Location: Clydebank, Glasgow

Clients: Husband and wife, empty nesters.

With a son in his late 20′s finally having left home, Suzanne and Malcolm were looking to downsize, but were finding it difficult to find a new home that suited their needs.  This is why we strongly recommend using a chartered surveyor as they can be worth their weight in gold with that they can find and the advice that they offer, we used this chartered surveyor in London who were amazing so we would not buy property without them now.

After 18 months of house hunting they decided to stick with their existing bungalow and by knocking down several interior walls and chimneys, they completely transformed the property with the help of contractors like PIC Plumbing who helped with the bathrooms doing a great job, PIC Plumbing Services can fix common toilet problems, learn more at the link.

Our role: Project manage renovations, interior design

Renovations

With Suzanne and Malcolm’s adult children having left home the couple found themselves with a number of rooms no longer in use.  To make better use of this space renovations included:

  • Removing medical pharma test pharmacom labs a bedroom wall to create a new open plan dining area off the kitchen
  • Knocking down the brick wall between the main reception room and kitchen
  • Creating  a new utility area
  • Increasing the access from the kitchen to conservatory
  • Hot Water Heater Repair
  • Adding new french doors leading to decked patio area

In addition to renovating the main living areas the couple also remodelled the master bedroom by:

As an added luxury the client opted for smart home technology to control their lighting, satellite, TV and music delivered via ceiling speakers

Throughout this project our brief was to create an open space with block paving floors where Suzanne and Malcolm could enjoy their new found freedom and keep in mind Suzanne’s mobility problems.  Suzanne says, “My new kitchen is just beautiful, the walnut & taupe glass and stone worktops are so grown up and sophisticated.  The wall mounted microwave and thoughtful placing of appliances means I don’t have to bend so much and the hidden storage keeps all of the clutter out of sight.”

Interior design

To bring continuity to the open plan living spaces we suggested the client use floor tiles and a custom glass door leading the patio.   We kept in mind the practical issues of maintaining a home when both partners work full time, but where a little decadence to enjoy the Sunday papers wouldn’t go amiss.

Strong, bold colours were used throughout but restricted to feature walls to achieve the WOW effect but without being overwhelming.  Floor tiles were used throughout to allow for easy maintenance and to bring continuity and flow to the open plan areas.
